Final dates for the 2026 Sapporo Autumn Illuminations are yet to be confirmed, however the event normally takes place from late October to early November each year.
As the leaves turn fiery red and temperatures begin to drop across Hokkaido, the Sapporo Autumn Illuminations bring beautiful light displays to Nakajima Park, easily accessible via the Namboku Subway Line.
The illuminations are spread throughout the park and include highlights such as the Ginkgo Tree Lane, Autumn Leaves Terrace, Path of Light, Hohei-kan, and the Japanese Garden area.
Entry to the Japanese Garden illumination area costs ¥500 and includes peaceful sound and light performances amongst the autumn foliage. Tickets can be purchased on the day with cash, or online in advance through the official event website.
