Susukino Matsuri

The 62nd Susukino Festival will take place from Thursday, August 6, to Saturday, August 8, 2026, bringing three days of celebration to the heart of Sapporo’s famous entertainment district.
The festival is held along Sapporo Ekimae-dori, stretching from Minami 4 to Minami 7 (Nishi 3 and 4 chome), where the streets are closed to traffic and transformed into a lively festival venue.
One of the festival’s biggest attractions is the spectacular Oiran Dochu procession, featuring performers dressed as traditional courtesans in elaborate kimono and towering wooden geta sandals.
Visitors can also watch energetic mikoshi parades as teams carry beautifully decorated portable shrines through the illuminated streets.
Throughout the festival, around 100 food and drink stalls serve a wide selection of Hokkaido specialities, local sake, and refreshing draft beer.
Live entertainment adds to the atmosphere, with powerful taiko drum performances, traditional ladder-climbing acrobatics, and dance performances taking place across the festival area.
